If you’re anything like me, you may dread this time of year.

This is the time of year where business owners start to forecast the following year, thinking about promotions and marketing plans, revenue targets and so many other no-fun-not-creative things — I’m feeling anxiety just even typing this sentence.

So, not surprising that last month I was sitting around a table with other entrepreneurs, talking about goals for next year.

And I just wasn’t in it.

Because my brain wasn’t laser-focused on business. It was reflecting on LIFE.

On my health.

On how I was going to survive all these failing internal systems and make it to a healthy and whole body.

I was thinking about my purpose on this planet and how I could help me to stay on this planet long enough to achieve it since for all we knew, I might die tomorrow.

(Which truthfully is the case any day for any of us, health crisis or not.)

So, there we all were, around the proverbial table talking about goals.

My peers were sharing all these big audacious numbers for their businesses and revenues.

When it was my turn to share, I squeaked out, “Health. I’d just like to live to see next year.”

And I admit, I felt shame. Health felt like a lame-ass goal when others at the table were talking million-dollar numbers.

I didn’t feel like I was “measuring up” to the others around me.

I used to hide from those kinds of feelings. Now, I give voice to them.

So I called myself out. Shared with my friends all these fears that I wasn’t “cool enough” to hang at their table because I was focusing on health over business.

And with their help, I was able to choose back into radical self-love.

Love for my body.

Love for my soul.

Love for my well-being.

Love for putting the most important thing — ME — first.

I mean, our businesses can’t run if we’re not here to run them, right?

The love and light we aim to spread can’t be heard if we are not here to speak.

Our magic and magnificence we desire to unleash won’t be if we are not here to share them.

We must choose ourselves because if we don’t, there won’t be anyone here to bring our magic to the world.

And the world needs our magic.

So while business goals are glorious I would also add, what are you doing to take care of you?

Loves & hugs,
